The Trouble With Cozies

It starts out innocently enough.

You might find yourself of an evening, perusing the Holiday issue of Interweave Knits, a mug of tea by your side. And when you reach out for said mug of warm beverage, you find that in a matter of minutes, the drafts in your 160 year-old Maine house have rendered your beverage not-so-warm.

Suddenly the Garter Mug Cozies on page 88 don’t seem like such a silly knit after all. Hmmm, it says they’re stretchy, can fit an assortment of mugs… you decide to make one.

Cherry Tree Hill Worsted wool, colorway “Java” (of course!)
Size 6 (4.0mm) dpns

Lovely and functional, not to mention a great stash buster. Suppose your spouse would like one?

There now that’s better. No more lukewarm beverages.

By the light of day, you can see you’re starting to have trouble. You see things like this around:

And suddenly you notice there are more mug cozies. They’re practically reproducing themselves!

And yet more.
And finally you see you are surrounded…

…by no less than six Garter Mug Cozies! (One for each of the family, and don’t forget the guests – anyone want to come over for knitting?)

(To be continued….)
